DAVIDBURDESHAW
Associate Pastor of Music and Worship
Wynne Baptist is blessed to have Bro. David Burdeshaw as our
Worship Pastor! Week after week, he plans worship services that will
usher us into the presence of our Lord. Being a creative, he possesses
many talents in the area of music (at times, composing his own songs),
which will present God’s Story in unique ways to glorify Him.
A graduate of Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, Bro. David
first ministered in several Alabama churches before coming to
Wynne Baptist in August of 2010.
One is not around Bro. David long, before realizing he is passionate
about several things. At the top of this list is his love for our Lord Jesus!
Bro. David’s commitment to Him and to His calling to the ministry becomes so apparent in everyday conversations with him. He speaks of the Lord reverently...with awe...and yet, as a close Friend.
Also near the top of that list is his family. He and his wife, Laura (working at Wynne High School as), are celebrating 21 years of marriage this year. They have a son, Tyler, and daughter, Elaine, who are students at Wynne High School. Any given weekend will find this active family attending tennis matches, football games, school plays, concerts or Student Christian conferences.
This list of passions also includes being a loyal (if not fanatical!) fan of the Auburn Tigers. (By the way, this is NOT to be confused with that other Alabama team!) WAR EAGLE!
Q: How did you come to the ministry?
I sensed that I was being asked by the Lord to serve the church in 1987 after leading revival services with another college student that summer.
Q: What would you want people to know about your heart for ministry?
My main desire for the music & worship ministry team of Wynne Baptist is for them to love the Lord lavishly and by their love expose others to His goodness so that they may worship God too.
Q: What is an interesting and unknown fact about yourself?
Most people don't know that at one time, I wanted to guard the tomb of the unknown soldier.
Q: What do you do in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy reading, watching sports and movies, and spending time with my family.
Q: What is your favorite verse?
Ephesians 2:1-7 - "And you were dead in the trespasses and sins in which you once walked, following the course of this world, following the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that is now at work in the sons of disobedience—among whom we all once lived in the passions of our flesh, carrying out the desires of the body and the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, like the rest of mankind. But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus."
Q: What do you enjoy most about your job?
Worshiping with my church family.
Q: Laura: What would you want the church family to know about David?
David lives out his faith in every breath and every step of his life. I love that he is the same no matter where he is or who he's with. He is the only person I've ever known who can relate to any age group, literally....toddlers to senior adults. His love for Jesus, compassion for others and musical abilities are some of his greatest strengths. His greatest accomplishment in life is being a husband and father who demonstrates what it means to love Christ with full abandon.
